[Current Location |Colorado Springs, Colorado]

Hello!  I am Holly Pacione and I am a mamrazzi.  LOL.  I have four kiddos, 6, 5, 3, and 2.  I also do professional photography http://hollypacionephotography.com.  I thought I'd start by posting pictures I took of my own babies, though I take pictures of other people's babies too!!!

This is my Liana just before she turned two.  She is a gymnast at heart and loves dangling from all things, bars, couches, parents, etc.

I signed up to be part of the non profit organization Now I lay me down to sleep

Its a website that brings photographers together with parents who have experinced or will experience the loss of a baby.

If you are a photographer, what a beautiful way to give back.
There are many locations that do not have photographers yet.

I was shamelessly scouting my photo friend profiles today looking for new photo communities to add. Yay I found one!

I'm Heidi, single mom to 3 kiddos, 3 cats, and 1 puppy. We live in frigid [this time of year] North Dakota but enjoy it here. I just went DSLR in December when I purchased a Canon 400D/XTi, Canon 50mm 1.4, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, and Tamron 75-300mm f/4-5.6, all natural light. I've had the photography bug for a few years now and have decided to try my hand at the business side of it though I have a 2 year plan. This year I want to focus on learning my camera and developing my style further and hopefully building an nice portfolio and maybe earning a few dollars here and there. Next year will be more business centered and getting going.

It's winter here now, natural light is crap and really frustrating for me right now. It's kicking my creativity to the curb. It makes me sad. I look forward to spring.

I take photos every day. I try to capture my kids and my pets and my environment frequently. I post these pictures here. I started a photography blog a few months ago and while I've not done a lot with it, there are some nice shots there too. Check it out.

Ah finally an intro!

I'm Ames, and I confess, I'm a total mamarazzi. I've been behind the camera as long as I can remember. Thanks to the lovely mod
of this group, I went digital about a year and half ago. I still shoot film from time to time with an old Canon Ae-1. However, my main
camera recently is an Olympus SP-500UZ. I love shooting outdoors.

Recently I've been asked to take some professional shots of kids and commercial subjects. Trying to test those waters out.
I just discovered the joys of Flickr, and this is my little portfolio so far http://www.flickr.com/photos/latillephotography/
I also have www.latillephotography.com However, I am still currently figuring out how to build a web site.

more photos to come :D

I just wanted to share a picture from our "photoshoot" today. I love the way the grass looks next to his skin.

Woo hoO! All my scouting efforts paid off! I have booked two weddings in the last twenty-four hours; one is June 24th (a morning wedding!) and the other is July 2nd. So SO excited!

But now I'm nervous. I'm going to do some equipment updates before the wedding. Here's what I'm gunning for right now with Ye Friendly Tax Return.

580 EX flash with the battery pack
additional backup battery for the 20D
lightsphere ii flash mod (to help avoid that "mugshot" kind of look)
either another 2GB or a 4 GB card
10 or so rolls of Ilford XP2 c-41 film
-and I'll rent a wide-angle lens too.

Oh, and a stepstool, for the group shots. Short girls struggle.

So I'll shoot all the color with my 20D and all the black-and-white with film, mainly to have a backup in case the unthinkable should happen. (please, god, no.)

I am *so* nervous, but excited! If I can get good stuff at these two weddings, plus the stuff I shot at my own wedding, I will be in great shape to launch a wedding portfolio/wedding page. Sweet!

Any advice, mamas?

I am really struggling to build my portfolio, since, if you can imagine it- no one wants a wedding photographer who doesn't have much wedding experience. I'd be more than happy to work for free or as a second shooter if I was allowed to use those images in my portfolio. I just feel like if I could get my foot in the door, maybe I could make a go at this whole photographer thing and actually have a little bit of money to fund my lens addiction. A girl can dream, right?

Anyway, I am brainstorming some ideas of ways to shoot weddings. I've even thought about making my brother and his girlfriend dress up in a wedding dress and suit and doing shots of them! Here's what I got so far; any comments?

*Contact florists and bakeries; offer to photograph their flowers and cakes for free before they are picked up by brides. They get professional images to show other brides, I get detail shots for my portfolio.
*Post a "will work for cake: buttercream frosting preferred" post on craigslist. Maybe some poor, last-minute bride is looking for a nice cheap/free photographer.
*Troll the wedding forums online and on LJ offering (begging?) to work as a second shooter.

Any other ideas on ways to just get that foot in the door? If I want to keep spending money on my photo habit, the truth is, I am going to have to start making some of it. Plus, my kids will go on strike if I stick that lens in their faces one.more.time.

Okay, sitting here with one very good, very salty margarita, working on updating my website portfolio. These are the six contenders from this past shoot; ideally, I would like to include two of them in my portfolio. Can I get some opinions on which are the most appealing?
